Calendar sync: Import and Export

Last Updated: Aug 17, 2018 09:49AM CEST
If you list your property with Your.Rentals and other websites, you can prevent multiple guests from booking the same dates by syncing your Your.Rentals calendar with your other calendars.

Before you get started setting up iCal sync, ensure that you have a clear Calendar Sync strategy. We strongly recommend you to read our blog post about Calendar Sync Strategy to ensure your strategy will work.

Importing calendars

Calendar importing allows you to automatically keep your Your.Rentals Calendar up to date with an external calendar that supports the iCalendar format, including Google calendar or the calendars on other sites like Airbnb.

Each of your listings has it's own Calendar, and it works the same way if you are using other sites or calendar applications.

To import a calendar

  • Go to your Calendar page in Your.Rentals (ensure you select the correct listing).
  • Click the Calendar sync button at the top right of the page.
  • Click Import a calendar from another site
  • Paste your calendar’s URL in the Calendar address (URL) field
  • Name your calendar (so you can see where your imported bookings come from)
  • Click Import
  • If you edit an external calendar that syncs with your calendar on Your.Rentals, it will take a few hours for those changes to be visible to Guests viewing your listing in sales channels.

Note:  Some channels like AirBnB, TripAdvisor... only offer export of bookings made on their site via their iCal export, not bookings imported to their site from other calendars. So if you publish your listing one more than one channel, please import all of your calendars to your listing. If you want to simplify the way you manage your calendar, please check out our blog post on Calendar sync strategy.

To edit an imported calendar

  • Go to your Calendar page in Your.Rentals (ensure you select the correct listing).
  • Click the Calendar sync button at the top right of the page.
  • Click Edit next to the calendar import you wish to edit
  • Edit either your calendar’s URL in the Calendar address (URL) field or the Name of your calendar.
  • Click Save.
  • Your changes are saved.

Exporting your Calendar

Calendar exporting lets you view your Your.Rentals Calendar on an external calendar that supports the iCal format.

To export your calendar:

  • Go to your Calendar page in Your.Rentals (ensure you select the correct listing).
  • Click the Calendar sync button at the top right of the page.
  • Click Export this calendar to another site.
  • Copy and paste the Your.Rentals Calendar link into your iCal applications.
If you have a Confirmed booking or Booking Request through Your.Rentals sales channels OR you add a Manual booking to your Your.Rentals Calendar, these will now be imported to your other iCal applications or sites. This may take a couple of hours depending on how frequently these other sites or applications import.

Note:  Your.Rentals only exports bookings made via Your.Rentals managed channels or input manually as bookings in Your.Rentals. If you want to simplify the way you manage your calendar, please check out our blog post on Calendar sync strategy.
